A monumental “Steirereck” Murano glass chandelier,
based on designs by Stefan Liewehr, 2004, for ART for ART, manufactured by the Simone Giovanni Cenedese glass house, Murano, Italy, total length approx. 600 cm, length of arms each approx. 50 cm.
A monumental and yet filigree construction of Murano glass with metal arms. The design of the chandelier reflects the closeness of the “Steirereck” restaurant to the Vienna Stadtpark. The arms are decorated with foliate ornaments and tendrilled blossoms in various tones of red. Each of the leafy arms is mounted separately and variably adjustable and can be replaced if necessary. The object was custom-made for the bar of the “new” Steirereck restaurant in Vienna’s Stadtpark, based on designs by Stefan Liewehr for ART for ART and manufactured in Murano. The chandelier was installed at the bar in 2005 and remained in situ until December 2013. The Steirereck is one of Austria’s most famous restaurants. Looking back on a long family tradition, it is known for its gourmet delicacies far beyond the country’s borders.
