Iran, c. 333 x 96 cm, about 1870, In an article published in ‘Hali’ magazine, Raoul E. Tschebull dealt with this group extensively and published two pieces that are similar to the present species decorated with a floral medallion band, attributing those carpets with cotton structure to the Sarab group; however, the present piece uses sheep wool only and must, therefore, be dated to an earlier period; soft, velvety pile wool with knotted warp threads at the upper end, side edges reworked.
