Central Anatolian kilim,
Turkey, c. 370 x 160 cm, mid-19th century, single-panel slit-kilim with contour wefts and metal threads in the large and small cores of the guls of the red background, four generous hexagons with hooked extensions (so-called scorpion motif), especially noteworthy are the large, white-ground elems with the female fertility symbol of the “elibelinde”, both ends still preserve folded, narrow end straps overlaid with a linen stripe, the kilim is without noticeable damage and in superb condition with pristine colours.
