A recent copy modelled after works of this period circa 1800/15 and with refined secret features. Made in softwood and veneered mostly in walnut, of shield shape, tapering below and continuing to an arch, the front with stylised and stylistically appropriate India ink paintings of chariots and fabulous creatures. The desk has 1 cornice drawer, a top surface which slides backwards, which reveals a drawer, below the cornice drawer is a hinged writing surface with a 9-drawer fitted interior veneered in burlwood, also with compartments, the niche with a mirror panel which can be moved right or left, serving as an opening mechanism for the barely visible drawers below (towards left for the drawers to the left, to the right for the drawers to the right). 161.5 x 74.5 x 33 cm.
