Johann Friedrich Nagel was a landscape painter at the porcelain manufacture in Meissen and became famous for his series of gouaches „Sammlung aller schönen und merkwürdigen Parthien in sämtlichen königlichen Preussischen Staaten“ (Collection of all beautiful and peculiar parts in all Prussian Royal lands) which he executed in 1788.
