Iran, c. 140 x 112 cm, 1900. The Afshars live mainly in South Persia and are mostly sedentary today. This small carpet dates from their nomadic period and features a very old decoration echoing the allegorical dragon-phoenix motif popular from Europe to China. Good condition. (VP)
