Private property, Austria.
A stylistically comparable drawing of Daniel Seiter in the Albertina (Inv. 25.066) showing the „Madonna with Child appearing to Saints“, which belongs to the Roman phase of Seiter’s career and is dated after 1680, shows the same characteristic white heightenings. See also: Matthias Kunze, Daniel Seiter (1667–1705): Die Zeichnungen, Salzburger Barockmuseum 1997, Cat. 59, pp. 190–91 (Ill.). The present drawing cannot be unambigously ascribed to the artist due to certain insecurities in the composition. It is therefore attributed here to Seiter’s circle.
