Directoire period, late 18th century, mahogany and mahogany veneered hardwood frame formerly dismountable by means of a screw connection (no longer available), baluster-like turned and ornamentally carved column decoration with acanthus leaves, bed head and foot end with gable ends and leather covering, external measurements c. 110 x 210 x 100 cm, mattress size c. 180 x 90 cm, bedspread and 2 cushion rolls in leopard look (Prelle/Lyon), various small wooden parts missing, slight signs of age and use, construction held in place only by 2-sided metal brackets (screws missing). Acquired in the art trade from André Delvaille (Paris) in 1971.
