ELIE SAAB was born in Beirut in 1964. At the tender age of nine, he already showed interest in fashion and sewing clothes. In 1981, he moved to Paris to study fashion, returning to Beirut the following year to establish his first studio. Today he runs studios in Milan and Paris. In 1997, he was the first non-Italian designer to be a member of the Italian Camera Nazionale della Moda. He participated in the 1998 fashion show in Monaco, which was attended by Princess Stephanie of Monaco. His collection was sold internationally. Saab became known worldwide in 2002 when Halle Berry wore a dress designed by him to the Oscars, where she received the Best Actress Award. Numerous stars and Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden wear his clothes. In 2003 and 2005, he presented further haute couture collections in Paris, here he had a second house. In 2005, he moved his headquarters to the heart of Beirut.
