Saruk Ferahan,
Central Persia (Iran), c. 220 x 145 cm, about 1910, carpets such as the present one were manufactured near Sultanabad, with specific structural features, such as tight knotting, short shear, a firm grip and Safavid design, they are traditionally referred to as Saruk Ferahan, the present carpet ranks among the classic examples of this group on the grounds of its quality, colours and complex medallion motif, especially remarkable is also the silk warp, which was used in extremely rare cases, in very good state of preservation with only slight traces of usage, some old repairs, silk woven finish preserved on both sides, both long sides secured with leather band on the back.
