Rome, c. 1760/70, attributed to Francesco Ladatte (1706-1787), fire-gilt bronze cast, two putti with large hat sitting on a rocaille base, decorated with blossoms, leaves and fruits, length c. 38 cm, height c. 31 cm, gilding slightly rubbed in places, original condition. (DOC)
Exquisite workmanship.
The quality and execution of the present item are comparable to a box on stand manufactured by P. Piffetti, G. P. Venasca and Francesco Ladatte in Turin in around 1745. The box is now in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum London.
