Exhibited: XXVI Biennale Internazionale d'Arte di Venezia, 1952 - the cover plate with two labels, one with typewritten text including title of the work, address of the lender: “Alfred Kubin Wernstein am Inn, Ob. Österr.” and a stamp: “Graphische Sammlung Albertina Wien”, with a label: “ACQUISTATO”, with the typewritten addition “Helma de Gironcoli Firenze S. Nicolo, 119” 98 prints by Alfred Kubin were displayed across all four rooms of the pavilion. The presentation was awarded the 100,000 lire prize by “Ulysse” magazine. Kubin celebrated his 75th birthday that year. Vice-Commissioner Otto Benesch, the director of the Albertina, presented him as a great figure in art history in ‘museum format’ ...
