Tekke, West Turkestan, c. 365 x 220 cm,
Late 19th century. Especially large Turkmen central carpets were manufactured at the turn of the century. The present fine specimen with five gül rows and a large knotted elim is a classically elegant example of that period, which already had its eye on Western markets. Well preserved with several traces of use.
