Turkey/Armenia: an unusually old dagger (‘jambiya’),
with a slightly curved blade and a middle ridge on both sides. The wooden hilt is completely set in silver, and engraved with bands of geometric designs and floral decoration. Set with 2 silver rosettes. A decorative black stone, made of glass, is set at the upper end. The bivalve wooden sheath is cloaked in fine brocade, metal threads and colourful silk flowers. Typical Turkish-Ottoman or Armenian style.
Length: 35 cm. 19th century or earlier. (ME)
