A sword of the Mandingo people (old type), with lightweight curved iron blade. The hilt is covered in dyed red leather with embossed line decoration, the end finial consists of cast brass. The sheath consists of dyed red and black leather, with carefully embossed, geometrical decorations and beautiful meshwork made of two-toned leather strips. A complete, old piece, with decorative pendant and carrying straps made of leather (partly torn). Between 1900 and the first third of the 20th century; L: 74 cm. (ME)
