A relatively large crocodile of gold, some parts executed with ‘waste mould’ casting and engraved, its individual parts (back, abdomen, head, legs, the jagged back line etc.) are soldered together. The body is hollow, the mouth ajar. With a hanger on the side. This item was worn both as a valuable piece of gold jewellery and as a protective amulet. First half of the 20th century; L: 15.5 cm, W: 4 cm, H: 2.5 cm. Gold content: c. 585. (ME)
