According to tradition the boy portrayed is the German actor Erland Erlandsen (1912-2003) who had Danish origins. He was a member of Vienna’s Volkstheater and Burgtheater ensemble, and later the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel. In addition to the painting, the lot includes the boy’s blue lace-trimmed velvet suit and a matching blue cap.
