Very old, anthropomorphic door lock of the Bambara. From a granary (millet). Made of wood, with a metal-board on the crossbar (closure). In the upper section an abstract human head with two long projections. On the lancet shaped ‘body’ and on the crossbar incised geometric decoration. An object with an extremely old, partly encrusted usage patina. first third of the 20th century; H: 40 cm, W: 42.5 cm. (ME)
