The present Healing of the Paralytic is not a typical workshop replica but an original composition. It appears to be a third version (with variations) of a subject of which there are two known authograph versions, one in the Royal Collection, London, and the other in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich. This third version combines elements from both other versions. It is probably the painting of the same subject listed in S. J. Barnes, N. De Poorter, O. Millar, H. Vey, Van Dyck, A Complete Catalogue of the Paintings, New Haven-London 2004, p. 140, no. I. A2.
