AUF DEN SCHULTERN VON RIESINNEN („On the shoulders of giants“) starting March 9th
The artistic creations of women have increasingly been brought to the public’s attention in recent years, as well as the many hurdles that female artists had to overcome in the past. Now, in the 21st century there seems to be an abundance of role models for female artists of the younger generations. To what extent are the latter a reflection of today’s female creativity? How are they positioning themselves in a genealogy with their own artistic works? What are female artists‘ views on those that for the longest time were ignored, forgotten or even actively banned from historical narratives? How do they relate to their ancestors, to those that were active in the visual arts, as well as other artistic domains? The exhibition „AUF DEN SCHULTERN VON RIESINNEN („On the shoulders of giants“) sheds light on these questions.
