On the basis of a photograph, Till Holger Borchert has suggested the present work can be compared stylistically to a Madonna and Child by the so called 'Master of the Stern Virgin and Child' (active around 1470/80), which was sold at Christie’s, New York, 29th January 2014, lot 155.
