Christian Gripenkerl studied with C. Rahl, in Vienna; he worked on the frescos of the Armament Museum, the Todesco, Sina, Ephrussi Palais, Castle Hörnstein, Villa Toskana, staircase of the Augusteum in Oldenburg, Academy of Science, Athens, Vienna Parliament, aula of the Vienna Academy, paintings at the Academy of Fine Art, the Kunsthist. Museum Wien, Städt. Museum Salzburg, Ny Carlsberg Glyptothek Copenhagen; since 1874 professor at the Academy of Fine Art;
