a sword type from the southeast of Sumatra (Palembang). With a straight iron blade in pamor technique becoming larger towards the tip. The hilt of the black horn depicts the head of the mythical sea monster ‘Makara’. The wooden sheath and the base of the handle are entirely cloaked in shiny sheet metal made from silver alloy. With embossed, floral and geometrical decoration. Between the 19th century and the first third of the 20th century; L: 57 cm. (ME)
