Princess Sophie Friederike Dorothea Wilhelmine of Bavaria, Munich 27.1.1805–28.5.1872 Vienna, became Archduchess of Austria on her marriage. She was the mother of Emperor Franz Josef I of Austria. Sophie was the daughter of King Maximilian I Joseph of Bavaria and his second wife, Karoline Friederike Wilhelmine of Baden, and a sister of Queen Elisabeth Ludovika of Prussia and twin sister of Queen Maria of Saxony, see also lot 1087.
Claudius Herr, history and landscape painter, until 1838 at the Manufactory, from 1791 apprenticeship in figure painting, from 1793 pupil at the Academy, in 1795 he was awarded second place in the Gundel Prize, from 1801 directed the premier figure painting class, from 1806 mythological themes, 1818/19 working on the Wellington Service, in 1834 exhibited porcelain picture, ‘Jupiter and Thetis’ after Füger at the Viennese Art Exhibition, from 1835 director of figure painting;
