Certificate of authenticity by Lieutenant Colonel Otto von Hortenstein: “Die Hetzpeitsche wurde nach Mitteilung des Grafen Szapary von Weiland Kaiser Franz Joseph I. bei den Hetzjagden in Gödöllö getragen. Die Damenreitgerte stammt von Kaiserin Elisabeth. Graf Carl Szapary ist gestorben und war als Linienschiffsleutnant seinerzeit Dienstkämmerer bei Erzherzog Ludwig Viktor. 15. X.1946 Otto von Hortenstein.” [According to information supplied by Count Szapary, the riding crop was used by Emperor Francis Joseph I during his hunts in Gödöllö.
