Certificate: Dr Alberto Crispo. Another comparable painting by Brusaferro on the same theme was originally held in the collection of the Palazzo Sagredo di Santa Sofia in Venice (auctioned in 1996 at Christie’s, London). Alberto Crispo dates the painting to the artist’s mature period (circa 1730). “Il Coriolano supplicato da Veturia e Volumnia è databile alla fase matura del pittore, quando alla solidità formale e al contrasto chiaroscurale di matrice seicentesca, retaggio della formazione presso il Bambini, si sovrappongono una ricchezza cromatica e un fasto neoveronesiano che rivelano l’attenzione per le più recenti sperimentazioni di Sebastiano Ricci...”.
