A unique piece. The winning projects in the design competition “Augarten brennt” [“Augarten on Fire”] (www. augartenbrennt.at), initiated by the Vienna Augarten porcelain factory, were conceived by street artists, designers, and art lovers who drew their inspirations from the factory’s handmade porcelain in order to create unusual objects. The Web community was given the opportunity of selecting the ten best works out of more than 120 projects entered in the competition. A prominent jury nominated the three best objects out of these ten ones. The winners were invited to be present at the factory for a week and eventually realize their designs, which they had earlier created virtually, in porcelain. They could choose from among five products in the range of the Vienna-based porcelain factory: an urn, a vase, a Baroque tureen, a dinner plate, and an oval tray (“Form 21” by Ena Rottenberg). Parts of the proceeds will go to the Levin Statzer Foundation, which promotes projects by street artists in the spirit of Levin Statzer.
