Northeast Persia (Iran), c. 168 x 90 cm, about 1940, charming prayer rug with camel coloured background, with a tree of life and vine leaves, at the foot of which is a naive depiction of a human couple and two camels, the upper corners feature the hands of Fatima – a religious motif and apotropaic symbol serving as a talisman against the “evil eye”, excellent condition with silky pile wool.
