“Gladiator”,
1st quarter of the 20th century. A naturalistic copy after Pavel Adamovich Velonsky (1849 - 1931), but on a larger scale, made in hollow cast bronze. The gladiator shown in full uniform, with raised hand and with the motto set onto the plinth “AVE CAESAR! MORITURI TE SALUTANT”. Height ca. 190 cm. Strong weathering and rust, soiling and some ageing. (DOC)
