Austrian School, Second Half of the 18th Century - Property from Aristocratic Estates and Important Provenance

Portrait of Count Johann Aloys von Spindler, Baron Wildenstein (b. 1729), oil on canvas, 217 x 125 cm, framed

The reverse with biographical information about the sitter (transferred from the original canvas). The imperial and royal chamberlain Count Spindler married Baroness Maria Josepha von Rechbach auf Mederndof in 1754. She died in 1756. In his second marriage he married Countess Maria Theresia of Andlern and Witten in 1758. In Upper Austria the Count owned several manors, among them Weidenholz and Waikhartsberg near Waizenkirchen. From 1761 onwards, he administered the estates of the Rechbach family in Carinthia. In addition, he acted as trustee of the estates of Peuerbach (for the Princes Batthyany) and Weinberg (for the Counts Thürheim) in Upper Austria.
