Tibetan saddle blanket,
Tibet, c. 62 x 142 cm, 19th/20th century, items such as the present one were used under the saddle on the horse’s back, in order to create this form two carpet pieces were produced separately; just like tiger patterns, carpets with rare pine cones are regarded as sought after collector’s pieces; full pile, edging with the classic red fabric typical of the region.
