Private Collection, South Tyrol

Karl Plattner, born in 1919 in Vinschgau, is the most important representative of late modern and post-war art in South Tyrol. After studying in Florence, Milan and Paris, Plattner found his unmistakable artistic signature in the late fifties, especially in the context of Cubism. His style is characterised by well-thought-out pictorial structures, clear boundaries between surfaces, a preference for large chromatic fields and a balanced interplay of pictorial elements. Combining figurative and abstract elements, plasticity and surface, his pictures convey a symbolic and mysterious relationship between space and figure that demands to be filled with thought.
From 1952 to 1958, Karl Plattner lived and worked in Brazil, where he successfully carried out exhibitions and public commissions in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. His works are represented in important private and public Collections in Europe and America.
