A Large Meissen Group with White Elephant, Magnificent Clock Case and Enthroned Sultanah, - Furniture; works of art; glass and porcelain

porcelain, Meissen and fire-gilt bronze mid-19th century, the sultanah seated on a royal blue cushion painted with dark blue sprigs of leaves, wearing a royal blue tall cap set with gold jewellery and red precious stones, necklace and bracelets with large white pearls, light yellow dress with dark yellow leaf and flower tendrils and light purple lining, surmounted by a turquoise cloak with floral pattern, the hem and red belt set with small precious stones, red cloak with foliate and floral pattern and large precious stones painted gold, orange shoes with brooches, holding a gold sceptre in her right hand, and a gold incense burner in her left, the clock with white dial, black Roman numerals and Arabic minute index with gold hands, inscribed JULIEN LEROY A PARIS, the facing side with glazed clock lid with gold wreath and pearls, the reverse side with glazed gilt edging and latch, clock case with elaborate bright and matte gold sculptural blossoms, buds, foliate and leaf rocailles graduating into the saddle cloth, the latter with moulded acanthus leaf tendrils and 13 tassels, white elephant with light colour accents, brown eyes and dark brown toes, rectangular base, on earth base covered with bright and matte gold sculptural leaves and flowers, the sides with large openwork leaf rocailles and several blossoms with sprigs of leaves, height 67.5 cm, width 50 cm, depth 25 cm, jewellery on the tall blue cap chipped, incense burner without double band, minor restoration to the tusks, blue crossed swords mark on elephant c. 1860, model no. 1165, sultanah model no. 1181, model by Johann Joachim Kändler and Peter Reinicke 1749, the clock with 14 days’ pendule movement, spring suspension and 1/2 hour striking mechanism on bell, diameter 11 cm, clock key and pendulum are enclosed, movement without guarantee (Ru)
