A French Salon Table of Round Form,


so-called bouillotte, im Louis XV style, “Escalier de Cristal” in Paris, late 19th/early 20th century, several hardwoods and softwoods, rosewood veneer, marquetry with several partly dyed precious woods in the form of flowers in a vase and lattice pattern, polished finish in traditional artisanal technique, one drawer, one extensible leather-lined shelf, gilt bronze fittings and top edging, conical feet, height 76 cm, diameter 70 cm, in beautiful professionally restored condition. Escalier de Cristal (1802-1923) was founded by Marie-Jeanne-Rosalie Desarnaud (1775-1842) and had its first store at the Palais Royal in Paris. The company produced various decorative objects of the highest quality, initially mainly rock crystal, glass and bronze, later also veneered furniture. The offer was supplemented by purchased objects, all of which were manufactured by artists of the time. Escalier de Cristal was considered the most elegant furnishing house in Paris in the first half of the 19th century. Napoleon I, Napoleon III, and King Louis Philippe were among its client.
