Cinque Terre … den Namen trägt der Abschnitt der nordwestlichen Küste Italiens. Schroffe Gesteinsformationen markieren hier die unruhige Grenze zwischen Land und Meer. Unbewaldete Felsendie sich vorschieben in die See, oft dem Land vorgelagert. Jeder von anderer Gestalt. Manchmal stehen sie allein. Dann wieder machen sie gezackte Front zu mehreren. Kein harmonischer Übergang: Dramatische Landschaft. Sieht man es vom Meer aus, ist das Gestade abweisend. Ein Ort der Zuflucht nicht. Wo da anlanden? …

Cinque Terre ... the name given to the section of Italy's north-western coast. Rugged rock formations mark the uneasy border between land and sea. Bare rocks jut out into the sea, often offshore. Each of a different shape. Sometimes they stand alone. Then again several join to make jagged fronts. No harmonious transition: dramatic landscape. Seen from the sea, the shore is forbidding. Not a place of refuge. Where to land? ...
