I believe that if we went to another part of the world for a long time, things there would seem immensely interesting to us, even the most ordinary things. On our return we would learn to appreciate our homeland, and our whole life here would seem interesting, even some of our personal statements. I believe that the Viennese, the South Germans, have a very "mobile" temperament, if only because the weather here is so changeable – characterless. Some days, especially in winter, we are transported into the twilight of the Netherlands, then again into the veils of Venice ...
