In 1972, Export began working on what is perhaps the most important series among her early photographic experiments – Body Configurations in Architecture (1972–82). These images combine the female body with structural, geometric concepts inspired by architectural forms. Thus, they explore the body as ornament, its adaptation to the environment, and also ‘visible externalisations of inner states through the arrangement of the body.’
