A representative Baroque hall cupboard,
so-called Wellenschrank, Germany, first quarter of the 18th century, demountable softwood frame with wedge joints, with tall moulded cornice and base at the centre as well as canted angles, walnut and walnut root veneered and with maplewood floral marquetry, 2 doors with arched panels, c. 251 x 252 x 72 cm, well-kept condition.
Gisela Haase’s book “Dresdener Möbel des 18. Jh.” mentions similar examples of so-called Wellenschränke – the present cabinet can be most likely attributed to the Dresden or Leipzig area.
