Indonesia, Island of Sumba: a pair (2 pieces) of bangles made of old ivory.
A pair of Sumba bangles made of attractive, old ivory that has darkened to a honey coloured shade (ivory naturally darkens with time). This pair of bangles is smooth, without the dot-in-circle decoration often seen on Sumba bangles, but with clearly offset edges (which only Sumba bangles have). With a thickened, rounded middle ridge and attractive, old crackling. No damage.
Height: 2.8 cm;
Diameter: c. 5.4 cm (inside); c. 8 cm (outside). Between the 19th century and the first third of the 20th century. (ME) ASA
