‘The Eleven-faced Lord who looks down compassionately on the World’ stands on a moon disc above a lotus flower, wearing a sumptuous dhoti and a shawl, in his main pair of hands across his chest, he holds the jewel of enlightenment, in his other hands, he holds the chakra of teaching, prayer beads, a lotus flower, a watering can and a bow and arrow. In the heavens are a lama and Buddha Shakyamuni, in the foreground, Penden Lhamo and Kubera. Gouache and gilt paint on textile. Paint losses; some retouching. Slight damage to traditional mount. 43.8 x 30 cm/84.5 x 52 cm. (BA)
