Northwest Persia (Iran), c. 192 x 138 cm, 19th century, luxurious Azerbaijani prayer rug with silk weft threads and c. 700.000 kts/sqm, besides the carefully executed lamp, column and vase motifs, this item features a characteristically curved mihrab, from which two unusual lancet-shaped leaves project; silk heriz carpets are rare because local production commissioned by Tabriz merchants lasted only for a short period; wholly complete with woven finishes on both sides, slight signs of age and wear, edges rebound, a large professional repair to the upper left main border.
