Yemen: A curved ‘Jambiya’ dagger, ‘Tihama’ type. Hilt and sheath set in silver.
A Yemeni curved ‘Jambiya’ dagger of the ‘Tihama’ variety (from the coastal plain by the Red Sea). Slightly curved, short iron blade with middle ridge on both sides. The hilt with four projections in the upper section, as well as its sheath with typical rising end, are in set in silver and richly decorated with soldered bands, circles, rhombs and hemispheric knops made of silver wire and silver. With two set turquoise-coloured imitation stones.
About 1900 to first third of the 20th century; H: 33 cm. (ME)
