1: Lobi: A protective amulet for children, in the form of a figure with slightly bent knees and a lateral hanger. With this eyelet amulets such as the present one hang on a thread around a child’s neck.
H: 10 cm, W: 4.6 cm.

2: Bambara (also called Bamana): A standing male figure with open arms and short legs, probably for a house shrine of the Bambara.
H: 9.8 cm, W: 3.8 cm.

Both items are made of yellow cast-alloy (brass), executed with ‘waste mould’ casting. Both display good, dark patina as well as some shiny areas as a result of protracted use.
First half of the 20th century. (ME)
