Southeast Caucasus, c. 126 x 56 cm (incl. back part), about 1850, soumak bag face of a former khordjin with preserved striped kilim backing, bags with a so-called ‘tortoise motif’ are extremely rare and among the most sought-after collector’s items, the present piece is a very finely and accurately manufactured representative of this group, with cochineal, in superb state of preservation.
