Monogrammist F. A. - Dipinti antichi

Still life with grapes, basket of figs, plums, and berries,
oil on canvas, 73,5 x 97,5 cm, framed

We are grateful to Gianluca Bocchi for his suggestion of the attribution.

This interesting artist was identified in 2005 by Gianluca Bocchi (cf. G. Bocchi-U. Bocchi, Monogrammista F.A., in: Pittori di natura morta a Roma. Artisti italiani 1630-1750, ed. G. Bocchi and U. Bocchi, Viadana (Mantova) 2005, p 491-498). The painting from which his name derives bears the monogram F.A. and is located at the Galleria Corsini in Rome. Though still lacking the evidence necessary for unequivocal identification of the artist, the paintings thus far attributed to him display the influence of Michelangelo Cerquozzis and Pseudo Salinis, also known as the Monogrammist S.B.
