A rare "Totem", designed by Ettore Sottsass *,
1964/66, manufactured by Manifattura Ceramica Bitossi, Montelupo Fiorentino, Italy, 1966, glazed earthenware, white lacquered wooden base, paper label to the base: 1, incised monogram to the interior of the bottom section: MB, height 280 cm, base 15 x 48 x 48 cm. (DRAX)
This ‘Totem’ differs from later examples in several aesthetic features and in details of the inside mounting. According to Sergio Cammilli, this object might be the first ‘Totem’ realised for Sottsass by Bitossi.
