A typical hilt of a Balinese kris dagger made of ivory. It depicts the demon ‘Buta Kala’, who with his right hand hides the fruit of the pudak tree behind his back. A very fine specimen made of old ivory, darkened to a honey coloured shade as a result of age (on the back!). With shiny patina on exposed areas as a result of protracted use. Between c. 1900 and the first third of the 20th century; H: 10.8 cm. (ME) ASA
