Inscribed on the reverse: v. d. Heyden
Topographic accuracy was not van der Heyden’s intention, and this is also visible in his numerous city views, e.g. Amsterdam. The staffage in van der Heyden’s paintings was often executed by von Adriaen van de Velde, as is probably the case here, and sometimes by Johannes Lingelbach.
