Provenance:
European private collection
The composition of the present painting derives from Giovanni Bellini´s altarpiece, the Sacra Conversazione with Madonna and Child and Saints in San Francesco della Vigna in Venice, with variations in the figurative grouping and in the background. The present work may be dated to around 1500 and also shows the influence of Titian´s early works. The painting was probably executed by a close collaborator of Bellini and a similar composition by Girolamo da Santacroce, the Madonna and Child, Saint John the Baptist, Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Jerome and Saint Sebastian with a donor is in the Accademia dei Concordi in Rovigo.
