Southwest Persia (Iran), c. 262 x 142 cm, about 1890, the most conspicuous feature of carpets produced by the Shekarlu tribes is their white ashkali main border, mostly with a garden pattern - the weaver of the present piece surprises us with three sparsely patterned diamond medallions on a midnight blue background, consistently short pile.
